UIC faculty can be involved in the Engaged Humanities Initiative in several ways:
• Teaching a first-year seminar
• Teaching a sophomore seminar
• Joining the EHI working group (email ehi@uic.edu)
• Serving as a mentor

Graduate students who have taught ENGL 160/161 are eligible to teach EHI first year workshop. To apply, please fill out the following form

Replacement
Yes- the Provost’s Office will provide replacement funds to your department.

Tenure track
At this time, seminar instructors and mentors should be tenure-track faculty members; however, we very much welcome input and participation from all faculty members.

Resources
Some course preparation resources are available to professors teaching the first-year seminars.
Faculty mentors will receive $500 per student. -
Mentor
Faculty members may mentor up to two students during the life of the grant (first four years).

Feel free to contact the Director to discuss ways to adapt your work and research to the program, or to discuss possible seminar ideas and topics. Also, you’re more than welcome to attend sessions of the Engaged Humanities Working Group; please email ehi@uic.edu if you’d like to be added to our mailing list.
